Chic, sophisticated and sexy, Toronto is one hot destination and the world is starting to take notice – we’ve recently been ranked as one of the hottest destinations to visit in 2012 by Travel+Leisure Magazine and featured on NBC’s Today Show. Let us help you experience the excitement yourself; we’re experts at hosting, planning and keeping our finger on the city’s pulse. Visit the Tourism Toronto booth #501 to meet our team and discover all the great new things that are making Toronto so buzz worthy.

Funding provided by the Government of Ontario.

The Change is Complete…. The dream is now a reality. After months of hard work, dreaming big and creative brainstorming, the Ignite Business Event (iBE) Expo is ready to inspire and stimulate new conversations, new business opportunities and new relationships within the meeting and event community. We’ve been exhilarated by the response from the meeting and event industry ever since the launch of iBE was announced last summer. Since launching Ignite magazine in 2008, the most FAQ we’ve been asked has been – When is Ignite going to launch a new show? Over the past four years, we’ve researched what planners want, imagined the possibilities, pushed the boundaries and took risks to create something truly unique and experiential. We are confident that iBE will set a new precedent for shows, and the experience offered to attendees, just as we did with Ignite magazine. With a solid organizational team, our creative aspirations for an entirely new way of experiencing a business events show is about to unfold, with the trademark flair, innovative design and style that Ignite is known for. Get ready to spark your passion and experience an industry show in a whole new way.

The Ignite Business Event Expo team, Richard Elliott, Debbie van der Beek, Rita Plaskett, Alice Parnis, Sandra Eagle, Stefanie Wolf, Joe Orecchio, Tricia Viera, Rose Filice, Sherryll Sobie, Vicki Zeppa Jennifer Newby and everyone at Boomerang.

Early Morning Sizzle: MARQUEE EVENTS on the Direct Energy Centre Main Stage

Experiential, motivating and inspiring are how we describe the educational offerings at our inaugural Ignite Business Event Expo.

Tuesday, June 12 Ignite’s partnership with National Speakers Bureau is guaranteed to start your morning energized and informed. Our first keynote session is a full tasting menu – with master of ceremonies, comedian Simon Cotter introducing four headline speakers offering a bite of their best.

Listen and learn from world-renowned activists, Craig and Marc Kielburger, the co-founders of Free the Children and Me to We. Find out how their one-day Me to We signature event went national in scope, uniting 90,000 students from 3,000 schools, and now has the largest Facebook following of any charitable cause in the world.

And what, exactly, do you have in common with an Olympic athlete? Dr. Greg Wells, says the challenges of the Olympic games and the corporate business world isn’t really all that different. Dr. Wells is a physiologist who specializes in health and performance in extreme conditions. Wells’ expertise is in realizing the value of building your experience so that you can focus when you need it - in time for an important business presentation, to deal with a major personal stress in life, or to better manage the tasks that need to be accomplished everyday.

The dramatic and cataclysmic Arab Spring toppled a regime and made way for an elected government in Egypt. Get the inside story from a ringside observer, The Globe & Mail’s Middle-Eastern correspondent Sonia Verma, who was detained by authorities during protests in Tahrir Square. She tweeted of her arrest in Egypt during the protests and shares how the mobile phone is now a significant weapon and communicator in the fight for social change.

Well known financial money-maven and author Patricia Lovett-Reid is the host of MoneyTalk, a national prime-time television program on personal finance. She will help you consider wealth in all areas of your life – work, home, personal and lifestyle – and encourage us to “Get Real and follow your own authenticity track.” From her research with amazing women, Lovett-Reid examines the main currents of a woman’s life that flow together and set the direction to personal fulfillment, professional satisfaction and financial prosperity.

Th e W ea lth y B ar be r R etu rn s Even though he says he’s older and marginally wiser, David Chilton is now turning his entrepreneurial spirit to prime time TV as the newest dragon on the CBC hit series Dragon’s Den. As an author and publisher of the multi-million selling personal finance books, The Wealthy Barber series, his common sense approach to personal finance helps Canadians think differently about their investment decisions. With his knowledge of investing and a sense of humour to go with it, he has found a way to take the intimidation and dryness out of financial planning.

About David Chilton His true professional passion is the field of personal finance, but along the way, David Chilton has always had a knack for recognizing great ventures. His first published work, The Wealthy Barber, is a Canadian best-seller and helped a generation of Canadians get smart about their money. Over the years he has published bestselling cookbooks, homeschooled his kids, and this fall he debuts in the hit-series the Dragon’s Den as an advisor to Canadian entrepreneurial hopefuls.

A leader by any other name is still a leader.

NEW

Good to Know Theatre Our Good to Know Theatre takes learning to a new level. Instead of another boring classroom venue, experience how we learn better when we’re entertained. Our show-floor theatre will be experiential, interactive and fun. Thanks to our sponsors, Delta Hotels & Resorts and Travel Alberta.

Getting Past Can’t Self-limiting doubts about what we can accomplish hold us back from the heights of success that we can truly achieve. Randy Taylor, a motivational leadership and life coach will challenge you to discover the power of your inner “why” and how it can drive your vision to powerful professional and personal growth.

Breathe More, Whine Less

Experience and Learn Volumes of research support the theory that we learn best while having fun. Come on a journey of discovery with Wine Awakening’s Amato De Civita and discover how leisure learning can be a dynamic component of your next event. Amato De Civita is the owner of Wine Awakenings, an interactive learning experience to introduce and elevate your experience and appreciation of wine. He is also a keynote speaker and a periodic contributor to the Conference Board of Canada Executive Conferences and a National Quality Institute certified training partner.

Providing participants with a hands-on approach to managing the overwhelming in their lives, Alex Leikermoser will share her unique methods to de-stress, with hands on breathing techniques and a few key yoga stretches. Known as a visionary entrepreneur in the fields of eco design and wellness, Leikermoser loves sharing her inspirations with audiences as a speaker and writer. In 2010 she was invited to create a unique wellness concept at the Spa at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Toronto under the yogagurl umbrella.

Social Media Sucks – or Does it? Discover cutting-edge best practices for leveraging social media tools to achieve business objectives, what medium to use and when, and how to engage audiences inside and outside event borders. Jan Zwolak, senior manager, meetings and incentives, and Julius Cardoza, event technology analyst, both from Maritz, will teach you how to integrate digital engagement seamlessly throughout your event and advise on how to measure success.

The Gold in Green While many of us may understand the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of implementing sustainable practices within meetings and events, we often forget to address one of the most important questions: – the why. Understanding the business case for sustainability and how it applies to meetings and events will help you articulate to your stakeholders why CSR will benefit your organization and get the necessary buy-in to ensure success. Toronto native Andrew Walker is managing director of E3 Strategy, a London, UKbased company he launched in 2010 to address the growing need for sustainability management professionals within the global meetings industry.

The Joy of Eating Local Executive Chef Brian MacAskill from the Downtown Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Toronto is a firm believer in the impact that fresh, in season local foods have on the menu and on the environment. Born in Newfoundland, now firmly based in Toronto, he brings his passion for local food to the forefront of your event. Learn more about the 100-Mile Diet, why it’s good for you and the planet, and what it means for your event delegates and CSR. Show Guide 2012
